Victorian Bed and Breakfast Inn--celebrating our 15th year
The inn is an 1892 Queen Anne Victorian mansion encompassing 7100 sq. ft. It is a George Barber kit home, built for David Hoover, a stagecoach line owner. It was shipped here by rail from Knoxville, TN. The most distinctive exterior feature is the 50' high stone & brick chimney on the front corner of the house, once known as the "Chimney House". It is a treasure chest of original architectural featuring beveled windows, 10.5' ceilings w/ original millwork and fretwork, pocket doors between parlors and 8' six panel doors, hardwood floors, grand staircase and 6 original fireplaces each with Minton tiles imported from England, updated with gas logs.
Joe and Myrna Hauser acquired the property in 1993 and began extensive restoration and renovation work to convert the home into an inn with eight (8) guestrooms & two (2) additional suites in the Carriage House. International visitors from 37 foreign countries have registered at the inn, mostly corporate travelers coming to the area to conduct global business.
In 2003 the inn was nominated for Select Registry, an affiliation of 400 distinguished inns in North America. Each guest receives a gift copy of this directory published annually in June featuring 400 properties (2% of the total 25,000 inns) throughout the U.S. & Canada. Market Street Inn is one of only three (3) Illinois member properties. Select Registry offers a loyalty program for each guest who has three stays per year at any of the 400 properties.

Business Travelers
Our inn has catered to a growing, repeat business clientele over the past 15 years with corporate representatives from over 30 foreign countries. Our repeat corporate visitors tell us they love our attention to detail and amenities that make their stay relaxing. September, 2009 we hosted a three (3) day corporate retreat for a Michigan corporation. Provided lunch each day. The group filled all 8 rooms in the inn and promised to return next year.
